MACAAPM 2023 Annual Meeting

The MACAAPM 2023 Annual Meeting will be held in-person (with virtual broadcast option) in Charlottesville, Virginia on November 10th and 11th, 2023

The schedule will run from approximately 8am – 5pm on Friday, with Night Out drinks to follow, and 8am – 2:30pm on Saturday. There will be oral presentations and panel discussions. The intended audience includes medical physicists and students and trainees in medical physics. As vendor supporters are confirmed, they will be advertised below.

The conference will be held at The Quirk Hotel in Charlottesville. The hotel block of rooms is closed at this time – there are rooms available on Thursday night, but no longer on Friday night.

This meeting is applying to CAMPEP for approval of approximately 8 MPCEC hours.

2023 COVID protocols:
Masks required during the conference – we will have extras if you forget yours. We request that each in-person attendee agree to take a Rapid Antigen Test each morning before joining the conference. As much as we can within the venue spaces, exterior doors and windows will be open to provide ventilation. HEPA filters will be placed in the conference areas and eating spaces. Let’s work together to keep everyone as safe as we can!

Educational objective:

The objective of
the 2023 MACAAPM Fall annual meeting is to have leaders in Medical Physics
discuss and inform regional and national members of the AAPM about new and
current technologies in medical physics.
Presentations are divided into three tracks – professional, practical,
and research. Professional talks will be focused on: how to be a better physics teacher, and an update about EDI activities at the national level. The Practical talk will highlight the importance of accreditation in clinical radiotherapy. Research presentations will be
given on synthetic CT, FLASH radiotherapy, phantom distortion evaluation, and a wide variety of topics by our Early
Career Investigators.
