Fall 2020 MACAAPM Annual Meeting

October 2nd, 2020 (Friday)

The 2020 annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine will be held virtually on Friday, October 2nd. The organizing committee has assembled great topics and speakers for this meeting and we hope you will join us for a day of engaging talks! We are also planning on networking over Zoom.

With topics of current interest to the clinical medical-physics community and well-known invited speakers from leading institutions, we expect that this year’s annual meeting will both be relevant and exciting to our member community. We will also continue our tradition this year with the Young Investigator Symposium. Please encourage students, postdocs, and residents from your institution to participate in this symposium. In addition to the recognition, there will be monetary award given to best investigators. We have invited speakers to provide detailed highlights of the activities at their institutions. 

Format: Oral presentation with slide projection. Pre-recorded talks, live Q&A.

Educational Objectives: The objective of the 2020 MACAAPM Fall annual meeting is to have leaders in Medical Physics discuss and inform regional and national members of the AAPM about new and current technologies in medical physics.  Presentations are divided into three tracks – professional, practical, and research. Professional talks will be focused on: radiation therapy’s role in global health initiatives, scientific communication with the public, and communication among other physicists. Practical talks will highlight diagnostic medical physics current topics, validation procedures for machine calibration, and radioimmunotherapy. Research presentations will be given on a wide variety of topics by our Young Investigators.

Target Audience: The target audience is medical physicists working in the clinic, research, educators and students.

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 6.75 MPCEC hours. Tentative schedule:

Meeting Venue: All Virtual! Protected Zoom links will be emailed prior to the day of the conference.

Vendors: The committee is working diligently to find interesting ways to incorporate vendor talks and interaction into our meeting! Stay tuned for a list of sponsors.
