yu175Come join us for a networking evening and the opportunity to listen to a unique talk on Entrepreneurship in Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics. Prof. Cedric Yu is an inventor, and the Founder and CEO of Xcision Medical Systems, a company that develops an innovative treatment device for breast cancer, the GammaPod. Some medical physics is probably not avoidable, but the focus of this talk is NOT going to be physics! Prof. Yu, the University of Maryland 2010 Inventor-Entrepreneur of the Year, will instead provide examples of the role of entrepreneurial activities in the advancement of medical physics. He will also describe how to spot innovations that have the potential to become a viable business and what is required to carry it through.

This is your unique opportunity to get a glimpse of what it takes to build a medical-physics company, straight from a medical physicist who has done it. You don’t want to miss it! The Chapter will advertise this talk to physics departments in the surrounding area to invite physicists (non medical) who might be interested in this topic and encourage collaboration and  interchange of ideas between medical and non-medical physicists in our chapter.
